The applicant and route come first
A British graduate with an initial TEFL certificate, an experienced school teacher, a person without a degree and a UK resident with another passport may face different conditions. UK residence does not establish British nationality or permission to work overseas.
We keep assistantships, English-language teaching, regulated school teaching, international-school subject teaching and separately evidenced freelance routes distinct. A training certificate alone cannot establish work permission. An overview is a starting point; inclusion does not establish a vacancy or confirm your eligibility.
Explore your starting point →What each kind of evidence can establish
- Official requirement
- An immigration authority, regulator or education authority establishes a rule within its own jurisdiction and scope. Definitions, exceptions, dates and the applicant’s circumstances still matter.
- Programme condition
- An official programme establishes its own eligibility and placement terms for the specified intake. A previous intake is not evidence that the next one has the same conditions.
- Observed employer offer
- A named employer’s advertisement or published terms establish that offer. They do not establish a legal minimum, a representative national salary or every employer’s benefits.
- Modelled estimate
- A budget combines identified income evidence, location-specific observations and visible assumptions. It is a calculation, not a prediction or savings promise.
- Editorial assessment
- A conditional judgement about fit or trade-offs. Goal pages publish their criteria and weights; the order is not a measured league table. Missing evidence is not a zero score.
Source links appear beside route information and in the research register. The 28 October 2026 foundation contains 98 sources; it is not a claim that every linked page is newly published or every finding has received specialist review.
Money without hidden assumptions
The published models use one adult, no dependants, a modest private one-bedroom home and no private-tutoring income. They match an assistantship allowance to a named city. They do not describe savings from an unrelated language-centre or school job.
Net income minus the listed recurring costs gives the monthly cash surplus or shortfall. Non-cash housing is not counted twice. Published net allowances are not reduced by guessed tax deductions. Gross income is not presented as take-home pay.
A paid placement month is not twelve months of income. Deposits, travel, document fees, unpaid periods, debt and overseas student-loan repayments need separate consideration. Unknown relocation costs remain unknown until you supply a confirmed amount or a clearly chosen estimate.
Inspect and edit the budget assumptions →Dates, review and automation
We distinguish the source’s publication date, the recruitment cycle, the date checked and a material editorial correction. Merely rebuilding a page does not renew its research date or sitemap modification date.
Our publication policy is to recheck eligibility and deadlines before a relevant release or application cycle; check financial models quarterly; and review material rule changes when authorities announce them. This is an editorial policy, not a claim that every rule is monitored continuously.
TeachAtlas uses AI-assisted research and writing. We do not imply that the founder personally authored, professionally reviewed or verified every finding. News, programme watches and practical explainers are labelled separately. A daily publishing target cannot justify unsupported news or an invented deadline.

What changed and why
- Germany, route DE-02: removed language and benefit assumptions belonging to the separate assistantship. Clarified the special employed route’s five-year limit and subsequent three-year break; freelance permission remains a separate check.
- Taiwan, route TW-02: removed public-school housing and airfare assumptions from the HESS language-centre route. Initial-training accommodation and an optional repayable loan are distinguished from continuing benefits.
- UAE, route AE-02: removed a British Council ELT vacancy deadline, contract and insurance assumptions from international-school subject teaching. School-specific terms remain unverified.
The corrected routes link their supporting sources. Superseded values are retained in the downloadable research history. These targeted checks do not establish that every field in every destination has been reverified. The 29 October availability check also found that the original Portugal recruitment page was unavailable; its figures are retained explicitly as a historical observed offer. Some UAE portal URLs could not be fetched directly, although search results retained their content. These availability issues do not establish that the underlying rules changed.
Corrections and contact limitations
A dedicated, verified public TeachAtlas corrections and privacy contact channel has not yet been published. We do not claim that the founder’s biography is a monitored submission service. This is an outstanding operational issue.
If you find an apparent error, keep the affected URL, the statement, the relevant programme or teaching route, and the official evidence showing the problem. Avoid sending passport scans or other sensitive documents through an unrelated business. Material corrections should identify what changed, why and when on the affected page and in this log.
Independence and the limits of the publication
Commercial partners cannot purchase an eligibility finding or a favourable position in an editorial shortlist. Advertising, sponsorship and affiliate links must be disclosed where they appear. A link to an authority or employer does not imply endorsement.
